Hospital supplementary insurance
General hospitalisation
This additional health insurance covers hospitalization and stay in a general hospital room of Swiss hospitals outside the canton of the residence. This additional option does not include the right to choose a doctor at will of the client.
Semi-private hospitalisation
In case of additional “Semi-private room” health insurance, the insured person has the right to demand payment for the semi-private room, as well as the right to choose a doctor at will of the client in the hospital. In public hospitals, the head of the department is usually responsible for the treatment of insured persons within the frameworks of the additional health insurance.
Private hospitalisation
In case of additional “Private room” health insurance, the insured person has the right to demand payment for the private room, the best care, as well as the right to choose a doctor at will of the client in the hospital. In public hospitals, the head physician of the hospital is usually responsible for the treatment of persons covered by the private insurance within the frameworks of the additional health insurance.
Flexible choice of hospitalisation
When choosing this health insurance model, the client decides on his/her own prior to start the hospital treatment what department he/she wants to go to (the department with general hospital rooms, semi-private or private rooms). Depending on the choice, the client must pay the previously agreed part of the costs.
